Here is the Forbes Article that discusses the cost of being married versus being single.  Sadly it does not answer my question in regards to if all variables are the same and the only difference is married versus single which one begetts the better outcome.  The Mr. and I will be together regardless, we will have 2-3 kids regardless and we plan to be able to send them to college all the while doing some family vacations all over the world.  He will be a Nurse and I will be a University Professor when  we grow up i.e. finish our degrees.  Is there a benefit to being married over just living together and setting up co ownership of everything legally?  Marriage is not about the love it is about the legal contract and I want to know how it all translates financially $$
