sad news for Ingrid
Posted by kyl3 tarraguña under Uncategorized
France has called of a humanitarian mission yesterday to treat ailing hostage Ingrid Betancourt after Colombian rebels said they wouldn’t release any more captives. The French president was hoping to fee Ingrid and enjoy the glory just like Hugo Chavez was planning to do earlier. Betancourt has been held captive since 2002. The recent news article can be found here.
She is an example of what happens when you stand up to corrupt government officials and rebel criminals and fight for the john q. publics of your country. France, Venezuela and Colombia have all made attempts at negotiating or planning her freedom but have failed.
This reminds me of the recent movie The Hunting Party. It was an excellent movie and I highly suggest renting it. Could three random people go off into “la selva” and find her and release her? Probably yes. Those damn big bureaucratic corrupt power hungry self involved governments can really ruin completing a task.
