So you think you own the things you buy right?  Not really.  Any software, Music (CD) or Movie (DVD) that you buy you are really only buying a kind of usage and not actually buying it.  In the case of software you can’t modify the code and tweek it for your particular need nor can you install it on any other machines than the one you bout it for unless the software license agreement specifically states otherwise.  And all the music you bout on iTunes; you can’t technically mix it up and burn a disc with your favorite Neil Diamond songs, because you didn’t agree with the Greatest Hits version.  All those DVD’s that you have purchased you can’t legal use the HandBrake software to transfer them to you iTunes so you can play them on your new video iPod.  Thanks to giant movie companies like Paramount that have legal lobyist by the tons, the interpretation of anti piracy laws means that when you buy a DVD you only buy the DVD to play it as that medium.  If you transpose it into any other medium be it for the reason of selling it or just so you can watch that stupid movie for the 100th time….it’s ILLEGAL.  And the same goes for music.  Thanks to conglomerates like RIAA you can not make an mp3 into an ogg file.  If they new how to charge you for each time you listened to the song or watch the movie, they would.  I found a great website titled the culture of ownership.   It knows more than I ever could.  Dive in for some eye opening reading about the stuff you think you buy. Coperate America just wants us on the monthly pay plan for every little thing we touch in our daily lives.  That would make us all the ultimate consumer; yet aren’t they at the same time advocating going green????

Not sure which Linux distro to use? This website can guide you, and it is really fun.

A friend of mine sent me these pictures from Franklin, Indiana.

I just started a plurk account.  Mine is here. It is new, so new that there is just a small blurb about it on wikipedia.  It is similar to twitter and pownce.  I am trying them all. I have found a way to write one micro blog and send it to all of them through a site hellotxt.com but I have not yet found a site that will compile all of them together.

Last week I was quite sick, just not sick enough to stay home from work.  It was all I could do everyday to complete my eight hours.  Luckily it was not near deadline when I have to work 10+ hours a day.  So I was sick, couldn’t sleep well, had a sore throat, had a temperture, felt achy and had my engergy level zapped from 100 down to 1.  The sickness has left but I the energy level is taking forever to resume.  I feel like I am barely at a 5.

This is not good.  I have a million projects and neat ideas that I want to implement but I can’t seem to get myself going.  Luckily I read Zen Habits and they have such an article that should help me.  I will try to put this plan into action.  In a few days hopefully this blah numb feeling will lift.

Check out this motorcycle I looked at today here.

It is really nice looking and rides well, I just don’t know if I could own a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.  In most cases they are way overpriced and that goes against the entire motorcycle code.  I am still shopping for a new motorcycle as you can tell.  My friend Jeff told me his friend is selling a triumph legend for about 3 grand. You can see a pic here.

But yesterday Roger told me that he might just sell his motorcycle.  He was so sick of it just sitting in the garage.  In the current geographic location that we find our selves living momentarily it is not condusive to owning a motorcycle.  Only during the months of May through September is it possible warm enough to ride and then you have to take into account all of the rainy days.  Currently we are under a constant flash flood warning and it storms just about every day.  What really is “funny” is that in August it will be about 100 degrees and we will be in a drought and will have ordinances against washing cars and watering lawns.  Ridiculous.

It is up and open. I have placed some of my books to sell on half.com. You can see it here.  We will see if I am able to sell anything.

The air conditioner has broke and it is nice and warm in the office today.  Everyone else is rather hot and uncomfortable.  I am LOVING IT!!!!!
